An Ode to shoes…
Before kids, you don’t realise shoes will be such a stressful topic. You don’t realise that a large percentage of your time as a Parent will be spent shouting things like :
“PUT ON YOUR SHOES!”
“I DON’T KNOW WHERE YOUR SHOES ARE WHERE DID YOU LEAVE THEM?!”
“WHY HAVE YOU NO SHOES ON?!”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU FORGOT YOUR SHOES?!”
That last one is in reference to yesterday, when we left the house, drove to our destination, and my 8 year old realised – ONLY WHEN WE GOT THERE – that he had no shoes on.
Did I drive back home to get them? No. No I didn’t, because feck that! It takes long enough to leave the house with 3 kids! So we completed our trip to uniform world so I could get the school uniforms done and dusted, with one child shoeless.
So here’s a poem about shoes to conclude:
Kids are weird when it comes to shoes
Some they’ll wreck; some they’ll lose
Some they’ll forget to put on with their clothes
Why it’s so hard, nobody knows
I mean how do you not even know they’re not there??
How do you not notice that your feet are bare??
I didn’t know shoes would be such a head wreck
I give up, go shoeless, I don’t give a feck.
